Light Up the Night

Attleboro: Milesplitmass took a trip down route 95 Monday to Attleboro, the home of the defending All State Champion Bishop Feehan High School. As teams prepare for this weekend’s popular Twilight Invitational, the Shamrock's decided to turn on the lights at their recently renovated track and field facility for a special evening workout for the Milesplitmass camera crew. With four groups running simultaneously the crew had to stay on their toes to capture the Bishop Feehan squad in action, it was "organized chaos" at its finest.

The Bishop Feehan Cross-Country programs have been a dominating powerhouse since 1990. They have earned a combined 14 Eastern Massachusetts Titles, and an unprecedented 9 All State Cross-Country Championships. They are the only team in the history of Massachusetts Cross-Country to win both boys and girls All State titles in the same season. They have accomplished that feat twice, in 2003 and again in 2011.

Having one coach for two genders can be a very rewarding experience, and nobody has done it better than Coach Bob L'Homme. The veteran coach has over 150 runners in his successful program, and one could only imagine what a typical day at a Bishop Feehan Cross-Country practice would be like. It takes a special kind of leader and a great coaching staff to coordinate a practice of this size each and every day. The teams long term success can be attributed to an incredible coaching staff , a strong work ethic, and the ability to motivate the athletes on a daily basis. The coaching staff have created a terrific atmosphere for success, and the chemistry between both teams was amazingly strong. Bishop Feehan has certainly found the "winning formula" and nothing is slowing this fine oiled machine down as they continue to roll towards to November.
