Dietz Outruns Lantz for D2 Title Nov 16, 2014

Bedford's Erin Dietz always has a half smile on her face when she's running, giving the impression that what she's doing isn't difficult but a whole lof of fun. That smile broadened a whole lot more after the Div. 2 All-State raceon Saturday. Coming off her third consecutive Div. 5 EMass win, Dietz shook defending Div. 2 champion Olivia Lantz of Manchester Essex after passing 2 miles and lengthened her gap on the way to a dominant win in 18:19. Lantz held on to second in 18:43 and Ipswich's Emily Demarco rounded out the top three in 18:59.

Carleo, Cooney Crowned Champions ! Nov 16, 2014

Nick Carleo made it clear in the week leading up to Saturday's All-State meet that he was perfectly willing to back off the pace if he was feeling less than 100% or sluggish on Franklin Park's 3.1-mile course.

Richards, Needham, H-W, Repeat as Champions Nov 16, 2014

It’s never easy to defend a state title. Throw in the fact that things aren’t going quite as well during the course of the season and the ability to win becomes even tougher. Needham High had a number of its runner bitten by the injury bug this fall, leaving head coach Cara Van Cott and her staff a little skeptical about the possibility of repeating as champions. But that all changed last weekend when the Rockets handily defeated Lincoln Sudbury by 42 points to win their second straight Division 2 crown at the Eastern Massachusetts Championship.

Hopedale 6th Runner Breaks Tie for All State Title ! Nov 16, 2014

With an 800-meter best of less than two minutes, Joe Grider considers himself more a track than cross-country runner. “I run on my toes,” said the Hopedale High senior. “Running 3.1 miles all out, all that impact goes to my knees. It’s tough for me.”

MIAA All State Championship Highlights ! Nov 15, 2014

MIAA ALL State Meet Central Nov 14, 2014

Here is all the information you should need for the All State meet at in Boston. It should be a great day of X-C at the historic Franklin Park.

The Starting Line: MIAA Division 2 All State Finals Nov 14, 2014

For Newburyport’s Nick Carleo, this fall has been all about the last few weeks of November. He had little concern for competing at major invitationals or glitzy twilight meets that most runners live for throughout the fall. Even last weekend at Eastern Mass. Championships, Carleo was reserved and felt no need to extend himself beyond simply winning the race.

The Starting Line: MIAA Division 1 All State Finals Nov 14, 2014

Nestled in the southern corner of Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood is a place of legend and lore. It’s a place that prides itself as home to a cross country course that has seen thousands of runners traverse its paths and woods over the course of a century.

Carleo Focusing on States, Foot Locker ! Nov 14, 2014

One week after a dominating victory in the Division 5 race of the MIAA Eastern State Championships, Carleo will be running his final high school race on Massachusetts’ soil this Saturday. He’ll be looking to defend his Div. 2 crown at the MIAA All State Finals at Franklin Park.

MIAA All State Meet: Boys Division 2 Virtual Meet Nov 14, 2014

Judging by our virtual meet, it looks as if the Champion will not be from Eastern Mass for the first time since 2007. Hopedale was our Champion back then and it looks like they could possibly take home the 2014 trophy as well.

MIAA All State Meet: Boys Division 1 Virtual Meet Nov 14, 2014

The Milesplitmass database has the Red Raiders of Lowell as our champions this coming saturday. This is the virtual world and not our prediction here at the Milesplit offices. This should be a battle of the powerhouses as teams like Cambridge, Mansfield, Northhampton, and Peabody are looking to prove our database wrong.

MIAA All State Meet: Girls Division 1 Virtual Meet Nov 14, 2014

It looks as if our database is picking Needham to land on top and will succesfully defend the title,  but who will walk away with the runnerup trophy .....L-S, Feehan, or Lexington?  This is still only a virtual meet and we will see how the real race plays out tomorrow at Franklin Park.

MIAA All State Meet: Girls Division 2 Virtual Meet Nov 14, 2014

Is Hamilton Wenham a sure bet to win D2? The girls from Lenox Memorial will certainly make them earn it. The virtual meet is slightly skewed  with the very fast , confidence building, Brown Invitational times in the mix. Look for the Millionaires (yes that is the school nickname) to give H-W girls a run for their money.
