EMass Division 2

Boys

We haven't seen Arlington's Ryan Oosting for most of the season, but expect to see him here. The national 5K outdoor champion is the overwhelming favorite to win this race and could be teetering in the low 15-minute range. His most recent race was at the Middlesex League Championships a few weeks ago where he coasted to the win with a time of 12:29 for 2.5 miles. Who will get second is the bigger question? Plymouth South's Nick McNamee could lead that group. Like most that have competed at the Twilight meet, McNamee ran his best 5K of 15:37 there to place second to Brookline's Lucas Aramburu. The junior matched that time at the Brown Northeast Invitational and on a more challenging terrain clocked 16:00.76 to place third behind Tristan Shelgren and Andrew Mah in the Championship race of the Frank Kelley Invitational on Sept. 30. Keep an eye on Wellesley's Tim Weiss, also. Weiss hasn't raced a whole lot, but has produced some impressive times. He ran 15:44 at Twilight and finished second to Mah at the Bay State Conference Championships where he was timed in 15:30 for the three-plus mile course. Concord-Carlisle's Zander Kessler, Billerica's Sean Stefanik and Mansfield's Kalin Petrov, all sub 16-minute guys,  are capable of pushing the pace with the leaders, too.

By the looks of it, Wellesley should be the favorite for the team title and possibly the Div. 1 crown at the All State Finals. But Concord-Carlisle could pose a threat to the Red Raiders.
