EMass Division (1,2,3) State Meet Previews

EMass Division 2

Girls

The question in the girls' race is not who will win, but how fast will Grace Connolly run at Wrentham. As a sophomore last year, the Natick standout  clocked a winning time of 17:46, which was more than a minute faster than runner-up Jillian Callahan of Plymouth South. Connolly appears ready  to crush that time and perhaps dip under 17:20 with the right kind of race. She ran 16:48 for three-plus miles at the Bay State Conference Championships and 17:13 at the Twilight Invitational on its generous 5K layout. In both races, she won by a substantial margin. Like she's done lately, Connolly will be focused on a fast time this weekend with the upcoming All State Finals a week later. Wellesley's Margaret Donahue should solidify the No. 2 slot. She was second to Connolly at the conference meet and was third overall at Twilight.

Wellesley, which also has top 10 potential from Loren Andrews and Bridget Ulian, will be hoping to make it a clean sweep for the Red Raiders with boys' and girls' crowns. Natick, Concord-Carlisle, Billerica and Woburn are teams that could be battling for top positions.
