The New England Indoor Championships will be held on Friday, March 6th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. The meet will gather top athletes and relays from Massachussetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. The 2 mile races will feature two of the nation's best in Andrew Springer of Rhode Island and Emily Jones of Massachusetts. Jones ran a US #1 10:29 2 mile last weekend at the Massachussetts State Meet, while Springer has been the US leader in the 3K since early season at 8:27. Daundre Barnaby dominated the Connecticut State Meet a few weeks ago winning several events and will attempt to do the same at the regional level as the Weaver High School senior is the top seed in the 600 (1:20.29) and 300 (34.10) meter dashes and likely will be featured on the top seeded 4x400. Three huge performances were recorded this evening at the New England Championships in Boston as Andrew Springer (Westerly RI) ran a US #1 2 mile of 9:02.58, which would convert under 9 minutes for 3200 meters. Meanwhile, Cas Loxsom (Wilbur Cross CT) dropped two seconds from his previous best in the 600 to clock a US #2 1:18.72 600. The Newton South girls were unable to win a Massachusetts state title last week in the 4x800, but now are the fastest time in the country and US #7 all-time in their 9:04.13 victory.
