'Get Set' For A Big Weekend of Track and Field ! May 10, 2013

This is no doubt the biggest weekend of Track and Field with teams competing all around the State,  even a few travelling into the State of New York for the prestigious Glenn Louk Games.  North of Boston in the Merrimack Valley we have the Annual Andover Boosters Invitational, a classic co-ed team Championship with some of the States best teams battling it out. Just about 20 Miles South at Somerville's Dilboy Stadium is the Girls State Coaches Invitationalas the some of the State's elite battle it out for individual titles. The boys half of the Coaches Invitational is down on the South Coast at Greater New Bedford Vocational High School. Both Dilboy Stadium and GNBV are two of the best Track and Field facilities around.

Boston Herald: Surprise By A Mile May 12, 2013

Personal bests ruled the day at the State Coaches Invitational girls meet yesterday at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.   The meet, which drew more than 30 teams including some from as far out as Williamstown, kicked off the last lap of the season in style, as many teams showed that they are at the top of their game. Austin Prep’s Elizabeth Lombardo surprised many with a masterful win in the mile, after coming into the day a fourth seed. Her victorious time of 5:16.10 was not only the fastest in her heat by at least 10 seconds, she ran seven seconds faster than second place finisher Meghan Grela of Ursuline.

Boston Globe: Brockton's Montiero Wins Twice at Coaches Invitational May 12, 2013

SOMERVILLE — Brockton’s Patricia Montiero was the day’s only double winner, placing first in 100-meter hurdles and long jump, Saturday afternoon at the Girls’ State Coaches Invitational at Dilboy Stadium. In the hurdles, Montiero finished in 15.16 seconds, 0.17 seconds faster than Annalisa Debari of Melrose.

A Look Back and More.... May 17, 2013

This past weekend had some memorable performances by Massachusetts athletes throughout the Northeast.  For many years the Coaches Invitational was the premier event of the season as runners test their mid-season conditioning against the best in the State. Now our May schedule has given our athletes more options with meets like the Andover Boosters Meet ,The Glenn D. Loucks Games, and the New Balance Twilight Series. These meets have slightly downsized the Coaches Meet but we still had plenty of fine performances across the board.
