Personal bests ruled the day at the State Coaches Invitational girls meet yesterday at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.
The meet, which drew more than 30 teams including some from as far out as Williamstown, kicked off the last lap of the season in style, as many teams showed that they are at the top of their game.
Austin Prep’s Elizabeth Lombardo surprised many with a masterful win in the mile, after coming into the day a fourth seed. Her victorious time of 5:16.10 was not only the fastest in her heat by at least 10 seconds, she ran seven seconds faster than second place finisher Meghan Grela of Ursuline.
