Bickford's sub 2:05, set 39 years ago, should be safe. But Shepard's record appears as though it will go down. Samantha Friborg of Acton-Boxborough had a stellar indoor campaign, twice running under 2:50 for 1,000 meters with wins at the divisional and all state meets and then finishing fifth for 800m at the New Balance Nationals where she was timed in 2:08.76. We expect her momentum to continue this spring with a few scorchers for 800m, possibly in the 2:06 range.
