Mah Gets His Reward At Nike
If there was anybody that was most deserving of qualifying for the nationals it was Andrew Mah. The Newton North senior has won his share of races this year, and has demonstrated he is one of our region's best. Recently, he was second to recent Foot Locker Northeast champion Tristan Shelgren at the Eastern Massachusetts Division 1 meet and the All State Finals. Mah didn't shy away from his typical front-running style on Saturday at the Nike regionals and was leading after the first half of the race, the hilliest section on the course. His gutsy effort was awarded at the end when he held on for third overall with a time of 16:02.
"It feels pretty good," Mah said. "(Qualifying) was the number one goal today. I kind of wanted to win, but I'm just happy with qualifying."
