WESTFIELD — Hingham won its first MIAA All-State girls’ track championship Saturday afternoon at Westfield State University.
“I can’t believe how well they performed at what one would consider one of the hardest meets of the year and they just stood up and ran their hardest,” Hingham coach Dave Jewett said.
The Harbormen took first with 35 points despite having only one individual first-place winner, sophomore Sierra Irvin. Lowell was second (32) and Notre Dame of Hingham third (30). Irvin won the 400 in 56.82 seconds, and anchored the 4 x 400-relay team for a fourth-place spot in 4:01.91.
“She was quite amazing today and definitely helped out the team, but I am glad she could receive some type of individual recognition,” Jewett said.
