Five Events To Watch At Coaches Invitational!

Shot Put - Small School

It's too bad that the throwing events are often in a secluded area and are not witnessed by the masses at a track meet. Often times some special things are happening inside the circle. This year we have a shot-putter that could reach 60 feet. Innovation Academy's Aiden Felty has been having a fantastic year with the metal ball and is less than three feet from the magical mark with his best of 57-4.45. For the girls, there's potential for two athletes to surpass 40 feet this weekend. The top seed in this event, Seekonk's Cameron Garabian has already done it. She did 41-10.5 at the New Balance Nationals last June and has a season best of 40-1.25 from her win at the Boston Holiday Classic on Dec. 27. Dennis-Yarmouth's Tiana Blazie was second to Garabian at the Holiday Classic where she had a PB of 39-7.5. Could it be a reversal of fortunes for Blazie? Right now, the two occupy the 1-2 spots in the state rankings.
