Five Events To Watch At Coaches Invitational!

Boys' 55m dash - Small School

Can you say a lean at the finish line? That's what this one could come down to with at least three capable of breaking the tape at the end. The speedsters we feel are strong contenders for the title are Milton's Smith Charles, Oakmont's John Caouette and Catholic Memorial's Ore Ojo. The talented trio have all proven they can perform on the big stage, and all possess similar speed in the short sprint.  Charles, the defending state titlist in this event, has a best of 6.40, which he did to place third overall at the New England Championships in 2017.  Charles recently came in second for 60m at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational, a meet that attracts open and collegiate runners. He was timed in a near PR of 6.90. Caouette won the Speed Classic back in December with a PB of 6.43. He was also second at the East Coast Invitational two weeks ago where he ran 6.47. Ojo was second to Caouette at the Speed Classic where he was timed in a season-best of 6.58.  The winner of this race might be determined after the first few strides. In other words, whoever gets out of the blocks first could be the one raising his arms in triumph at the finish.
