MIAA Western / Central Divsion 1 Championships 2013

 Last year, the Wachusett Regional boys’ track and field team won its second Central Mass. Division 1 championship in three years. The Mountaineers continued their dominance over CMass on Monday, but were met by some unfamiliar competition. In a new combined Central/Western Mass. format, Wachusett (79 points) finished well ahead of third-place St. John’s (53), but fell short of Amherst-Pelham Regional (92) which captured the team title.  Chicopee Comp (46) was fourth, followed by Algonquin Regional (41-1/2) and Doherty (33).

Central and Western Massachusetts will run a combined format for the first time. The Division 1 meet will be run today at Fitchburg State University.

DUE TO THE CURRENT FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, THE MIAA AND TRACK AND FIELD MEET DIRECTORS HAVE MOVED ALL SATURDAY DIVISIONAL MEETS TO MONDAY. .

Wachusetts Amy Collins and Colin Bennie will lead their respective teams this weekend at the newly combined Western / Central State Championships at Fitchburg State University.
