Hingham's Bolze dashes to All-State track title Feb 27, 2013

Hingham’s Andrew Bolze took a seemingly precarious situation and transformed it into All-State gold. The Division 3 300-meter dash champion, Bolze figured his winning time wouldn’t put him in the seeded heat at Saturday’s MIAA All-State Track Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. With that in mind, Bolze worked on his starts and twice traveled to Boston to train from the always-tough sixth lane. All State Meet Photo's Feb 26, 2013

Milesplitmass had several photographers on the ground at Reggie Lewis Center this past weekend. Take a look at some of the faboulous shots by photography.

Rocha's Record Run Leads Lantz & McNulty Sub 5 Feb 24, 2013

Catarina Rocha's farewell performance at the Reggie Lewis Center proved to be her best. The Peabody star put her head down, pumped her arms and drove across the finish line, breaking her own meet record with a new personal best of 4 minutes, 49.14 seconds at yesterday's state meet. Runner-up Olivia Lantz of Manchester Essex (4:57.67) and Bishop Feehan’s Abby McNulty (4:58.30) were left behind, but still came away with impressive personal bests.

Boston Globe: Newton North Girls win All State Title Feb 24, 2013

Newton North didn’t finish higher than second in an individual event and was seventh at the MIAA Division 1 meet last week. It came into the MIAA All-State track championship battling injuries. But the girls from Newton North pulled off the almost unthinkable and won their fourth consecutive title, finishing with 27 points. Acton-Boxboro was second with 21.“This is one of the better ones,” coach Joe Tranchita said. “A lot of teams had ruled us out after last week, not realizing we were only 32-hundredths of a second out of first place last week, if you look at how close some of our scores were.”

Same in the End Feb 23, 2013

In November, Lowell and Newton North were the respective on paper favorites to win indoor track All State titles, on the boys and girls sides, respectively. Lowell was coming off a dominant victory in cross country, with a great shot putter, high jumper, and 300 runner added into the mix. Newton North had a Renaissance in the fall, adding Maeve Greeley, Cookie Koch, Christina Galvano, and Michaela Smith to a dominant group that already included Carla Forbes, Madi Nadeau, Evie Heffernan, and Meghan Bellerose, who had a breakout fall to add to an already stellar track resume. For both teams, it was going to require some names that were once borderline anonymous to pull these ones off.

Milesplitmass has listed all the Top performances in todays MIAA All State Championship at Reggie Lewis Center. Click on each name and read  the athletes Milesplit profiles. Congratulations to both Lowell High School and Newton North for winning the team titles.

All State Meet Has No Shortage of Contenders Feb 21, 2013

In most years, one can count the number of true All State Meet contenders on one hand, even if you're missing a few fingers. A team battle that comes down to 2-3 athletes, simply figuring out where the teams' studs are deployed and who can add four of them together for a relay is usually the recipe for predicting a winner. This year, in both the girls and boys team competitions, that isn't quite so simple. Expect a real battle to ensue, and with no team guaranteed to reach 30 points, expect the unexpected when it comes to hoisting trophies.

The Divisional Meets have come to an end and this list has all the All State Qualifiers for next weeks State Finals.
