Highlights

  • The Newton North girls won by 8 points over Andover and the Acton-Boxborough boys won by 23 over Brockton.
  • Moira Cronin of Andover won the high jump with a US#3 leap of 5'10".
  • Andrea Keklak of Lincoln-Sudbury set a new meet record of 2:08.78 in the 800m.  Keklak's US#5 time was almost 8 seconds ahead of second place.
  • 3 girls went under 5:10 in the mile, with Kathy O'Keefe of Newton South getting the win in 5:04.55.  Marika Crowe of Lincoln-Sudbury was second (5:07.13) and freshman Evie Heffernan of Newton North was third (5:09.77).
  • Catarina Rocha of Peabody won the 2 mile in 10:55.76 and Julie Solimine of Haverhill finished second in 11:09.71.
  • Vanessa Clerveaux of Brockton held-off a very talented field in the 100m hurdles to win the event in 14.37.  Nicole Genard of Somerville was second (14.75) and Kayla Wong of Newton North was third (14.78).  Clerveaux would return to finish second in the triple jump (39'1") and lead her team to a win in the 4x100m (49.06).  Genard would go on to win the javelin at 127'3".
  • Andover set a new meet record in the girls 4x400m relay; winning the event in 3:57.50.  The were challenged the entire way by Newton North who finished second in 3:57.91.
  • Lincoln-Sudbury would just miss their own meet record of 9:23.95 in the 4x800m.  They won by just under 10 seconds (9:25.79) over Weymouth (9:35.42).
  • Carla Forbes of Newton North won the long jump (17'5.75) and the triple jump (40'2").
  • Andover went 1-2 in the boys 200m.  Pat Farnham won the event in 22.33 and Troy Cayon finished second (22.74).  The two would later combine with teammates Brian Knapp and Adam Carrington to win the 4x100m relay in 42.57.
  • The highly anticipated 400m did not disappoint.  Isaiah Penn of Newton North clocked in at 48.77 for the win, with Nathan Pierre-Louis of Waltham finishing second (49.52), and Andre Rolim of Somerville (49.71) edging Brian Sommers of Acton-Boxborough (49.73) for third.
  • Acton-Boxborough went 1-2-3 in the 800m.  Curt Owen led the group at 1:54.97 and was followed by teammates Tim Cox (1:55.81) and James Sullivan (1:57.14).  It's no surprise that they also won the 4x800m relay in 8:01.17, but Andover (8:01.93) and Boston College High (8:02.72) would give them all they could handle.
  • Ezra Lichtman of Newton North held off Mike Giardina of Lowell to win the mile.  Lichtman crossed the line in 4:18.18 with Giardina not far behind at 4:19.43.
  • Stephen Sollowin of Weymouth won the 2 mile (9:18.21) over David Melly of Newton South (9:22.50).
  • Josh Quinnie of Attleboro won the 110m hurdles in 14.72 and Matt Hunter of Lexington was second in 14.81.
  • Chris Pullerits of Acton-Boxborough won the 400m hurdles in 54.61.  He would later lead the A-B 4x400m relay team to a win in 3:24.45.
  • After weeks of very close attempts, Khary Bailey-Smith of Weymouth finally cleared 6'10" to win the high jump.  Bailey-Smith handed Carl Joseph of Brockton (6'8") his first defeat of the season and would also edge freshman sensation Nick Scott of Brookline in the long jump 22'1.5" to 22'1.25".
  • Four boys had marks over 53 feet in the shot put; with Tresley Dupont of Durfee getting the win at 54'9.75".  Sean Enos of St. John's Prep finished 5th in the shot put (52'11") but would return to win the discus in 158'10".  Swardiq Mayanja of Newton North finished 3rd in both with marks of 53'0.25" and 141'04".
