It was a close one on both sides, as the Lynnfield girls and OldRochester boys narrowly captured the team titles. Lynnfield would edge Hamilton-Wenham by 4 points and Ursuline Academy by 5 points. Old Rochester fought-off Newburyport by 4.5 points and Rockland by 11 points.
Freshman Danielle Griffin of Norwell win the 800m in 2:18.80.
Alison Lanois of Hamilton-Wenham would build a comfortable gap to win the mile in 5:05.76, but the battle for 2nd and 3rd was fierce. Jennifer Salit of Seekonk finished second (5:11.63); followed by Abigail Pohl of Weston (5:14.19) and Lee Milne of Dover-Sherborn (5:15.26).
In the 400m hurdles, three girls ran under the 2009 meet record time of 66.72 set by Brenna Gonsalves of Coyle & Cassidy. Ally Saccone of Old Rochester won the event in 64.82, but Vanessa Noelte of Seekonk and Alyssa Jasper of Rockland were not far behind at 65.85 and 65.99, respectively.
The Hamilton-Wenham girls ran 9:36.67 in the 4x800m relay to brake their own meet record of 9:41.47 from 2009. The Hamilton-Wenham boys ran 8:06.94 to break the 1998 meet record set by Weston.
Watertown won the girls 4x100m relay in 49.52; just missing the 1994 meet record of 49.50 set by Wayland.
Nicole Gilbert set a new meet record and takes over the top spot in the state after her winning jump of 19'0" in the long jump.
Alyssa Jasper of Rockland won the discus (105'1") and the shot put (37'95").
Ian Peuser of Rockland won the 200m in 22.15. His time is the fastest fully automatic time in the state.
Nick Capezzuto of North Reading won the 800 in a swift 1:56.48. He was followed by Mike Tiger of Old Rochester (1:57.04), Marc George of Marian (1:57.27), James Garbier of Watertown (1:57.48), and John Stansel of Newburypot (1:57.56). Garbier is a freshman and he now has the 6th fastest time in the country for his class.
Dana Dourdevillle of Old Rochester contributed 20 very important team points with wins in the mile (4:26.39) and the 2 mile (9:50.74).
Terrence Gibson of Rockland set two MA#3 marks by winning the 110m hurdles (14.77) and the long jump (22'4.25").
Jacob Teixeira of Seekonk and John O'Neil of Newburyport both ran under the meet record of 57.07 in the 400m hurdles. Teixeira won the event in 55.48 and O'Neil was second in 55.57.
Rockland set a new meet record and posted the second fastest 4x100m relay time in the state (43.18).
Joe Hak of East Bridgewater won the shot put with a throw of 52'9". His mark is MA#5.
