We're still six weeks away from the Massachusetts State Championships, but the state's top athletes have gotten an early start lighting up the track (and field!). Let's take a look at some of the state's top performers after a couple of weeks of action and see who is wasting no time setting themselves up for the postseason.

Sprint & Hurdle Events - Top Performers
Malik Washburn, Old Rochester Regional - Washburn picked up a win in the 110m hurdles at the Outdoor Mercury Games, running 14.31 to move to MA #1. With two wins already under his belt this season, he's quickly establishing himself as one of the top hurdlers in the state.
Aiden Calcano Da Silva, Abington - Da Silva set the state lead in the 400m hurdles at 54.04 and followed it up with his third win of the season. He's also undefeated in the 110m hurdles, showing strong consistency across both events.
Khadijah Diagne, Malden - Diagne opened her season with a sweep in the 100m and 200m at the Mercury Games, running 12.15 and 25.27. She now holds the state lead in the 200m and made an immediate impact in her debuts.

Field Events - Top Performers
Amar Skeete, Catholic Memorial - Skeete opened his season with a 23-11 win in the long jump at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational, taking over the state's top spot. After winning the indoor state title in the winter, he's picked up right where he left off.
Gable Gray, Chelmsford - Gray threw a massive 216-7 to finish 2nd at the Penn Relays, a huge personal best. After winning his previous four meets, he's positioning himself for another strong postseason run.
Mitchell Callender, Oliver Ames - Callender picked up the win at the MSTCA Warrior Invitational with a 60-4 throw, currently MA #2. The defending D3 state champion continues to show consistency early this season.
Ainsley Cuthbertson, Lexington - Cuthbertson won the discus at the Mass Hammer Invite with a 146-3, continuing her strong run as the defending D1 state champion. She also holds the top hammer throw mark in the state and sits US #6.
Distance Events - Top Performers
Harry Flint, Brookline - Flint enjoyed a strong season debut in the 800m, running 1:53.72, the new MA #1. After finishing 2nd at the D3 state meet last year, he looks ready to take another step this season.
Mabel Carreiro, Hopedale - Carreiro ran 2:18 to win the 800m at the Mercury Games, picking up her second win in the event this season. Her range was on full display this winter, having run the 400m up to the 3200m, helping her stand out from the other distance runners in the state.
Lauren Raffetto, Canton - Raffetto ran 5:06 for the mile at the MSTCA Invitational, moving to MA #3 and staying undefeated across all three distance events this spring. After finishing 2nd at the state cross country meet this fall, she's carried that momentum right into track.
