McIntyre Elite Coverage

After inviting back the top 24 athletes from last weekend's State Coaches Invitational, the McIntyre Elite meet produced 135 MileSplit Elite marks.  Life in the state's top 10 is very short lived these days, especially if you are not producing high quality performances each weekend.  In fact, the performances from this weekend were so good that we have 9 new state leaders from this meet alone.

New State Leaders

Mansfield girls 4x200m - State leader and US#21 at 1:45.15.

Rebecca Robinson (Arlington) - 38.90 for 300m.  This was .09 better than her previous state leading mark and is the third best time in the nation.

Newton South Sprint Medley - State leader and US#7 at 4:13.30.

New Bedford boys 4x200m -  Their time of 1:31.60 tops Mansfield's time of 1:31.82 from last weekend.

Greg Boursiquot (Stoughton) - His time 7.53 is the new MA#1 and US#13.  He also ran 7.65 in the prelims.

Patrick Brekka (Quabbin Regional) - 1:21.46 is MA#1 and US#5.

Nick Staley (B.C. High School) - This is his second invitational win in a row and his high jump mark of 6'9 is US#7.

Swardic Mayanja (Newton North) - 5 athletes threw over 50 feet, but Mayanja's throw of 56'2.5" is now US#16.

Other notable performances:

Kelsey Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy) earned a close win over Alli Wood (Chlemsford) in the 1000m.  Whitaker's time of 3:01.68 is MA#3 and Wood's time of 3:01.78 is MA#4.

Katie Carlson (Wachusett) is now MA#5 after her 11:13.88 performance in the 2 mile.

Mansfield may be the new state leader in the 4x200m but Newton North is not far behind at 1:45.41.

Vanessa Clerveaux (Brockton) ran the 3rd and 4th fastest  55m hurdle times in the state at 8.27 and 8.32.  In addition, she still  has the top time in the state at 8.13 from last weekend.

Rebecca Robinson (Arlington) ran the fastest 55m time of the day at 7.23 in the prelims, but, Shanteana Samuels (Monument Mountain) was the event winner after running 7.30 in the finals.  Robinson was second at 7.33.

Wachusett and Whitman-Hanson continue to battle in the girls DMR.  Wachusett walked away with a narrow victory in 12:16.38.  Whitman-Hanson was a close second in 12:19.43.  Their times are #2 and #3 in the state respectively.

Billy Looney (Bishop Feehan)  didn't think that his 6th place finish last week was an accurate display of his talents.    He took off nearly 2 seconds from his impressive time last weekend to run 2:31.70.  He is currently ranked second in the state.

Donovan Henry (Catholic Memorial) is now MA#2 in the 300m at 35.85.

Somerville is only the second team in the state to hit the MileSplit First Team standard in the 4x400m.  Their time of 3:26.86 is MA#2 and just under 2 seconds away from Mansfield.

Phito Gondre (New Bedford) came charging back from last week's disappointing performance to win the 55m in 6.50.  He also ran 6.55 in the prelims.

Craig Langes (Woburn) continues to show why runway speed equals big jumps.  He ran 6.62 in the 55m and then jumped 22'5" in the long jump.

Dan Zawalich may have the organizers of the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix rethinking their lineup.  He ran a MA#4 time in the mile of 4:19.45.

Don Caouette (Attleboro) was a very impressive second in the shot put with a MA#2 effort of 54'2".
