The long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault across the state feature a strong returning group of athletes who have already proven themselves at an elite level. Take a look at 10 of the top returning jumpers this outdoor season in Massachusetts.
Top Returning Jumpers:
Aubrey Deardorf (Lexington):
Deardorf leads the girls' long jump with a mark of 19-09, and enters the outdoor season as one of the top returning jumpers in the state, if not the athlete to beat in the event.
Belmer leads the boys' long jump at 23-06.75 but has also posted marks of 44-06.50 in the triple jump and 6-02 in the high jump. He returns as one of the most complete jumpers in the state this outdoor season, and is looking to make a statement in his final high school season.
Blake MacNeal (Newton North):
MacNeal leads the girls triple jump with a mark of 38-00.50 and has also posted a 18-02.50 in the long jump, making her a top multi-event jumper in the state.
The junior leads the boys triple jump with a mark of 50-05. He's the lone returner with a jump further than 48-0. He's also recorded 22-06.25 in the long jump.
Lightbody is a versatile jumper, having posted marks of 18-02 in the long jump and 37-10 in the triple jump. She returns as one of the top competitors in both events this outdoor season.
Heading into his senior season, Thevenin has leaped 23-0 in the long jump and 46-07 in the triple jump, and is among the top returning jumpers in both events.
Donahue-Wilfre has recorded marks of 18-03 in the long jump and 37-00.75 in the triple jump.
Torres has posted marks of 22-06 in the long jump and 47-07 in the triple jump.
Kline leads the girls' pole vault returners list with a clearance of 11-08. She took third at the outdoor Meet of Champs and fourth at outdoor New Englands last year.
One of two vaulters coming back with a 14-0 clearance to his name, Woo leads the boys pole vault with a clearance of 14-06. He placed third at the Meet of Champs last outdoor season.
