Leading the Western Division 2 returning girls is Emily Boutin of Pope Francis. Boutin ran her personal best time of 18:19.00 in the division 2 race at the MIAA Western Division Championships. Boutin would finish first in the race, ten seconds clear of her closest competitor - Meghan Davis from Mohawk Trail Regional High School. With Davis having graduated this past year, Boutin now has a large gap between her and her closest Western Division 2 rivals.
Boutin has her eyes set on bigger fish however. She finished 6th at the MIAA All State Finals State Division 2 race last year. She finished second highest among 2019 returning runners, finishing just 0.19 seconds behind Seekonk High School's Abigail Tenreiro. The two of these girls are looking to have a battle for the State Division 2 title in their final season.
