MIAA All State Girls' Running Events' Preview

HURDLES

Defending 100m hurdle champion Anoush Krafian has been dominant in the hurdles since winning her first state crown last June. She followed up her outdoor crown by capturing the 55m hurdles in February. She clocked a PB of 14.64 to win the Middlesex League Championships on May 21 and copped the Eastern Division 2 title on Monday with a 14.69 effort. Can she win her third individual title in the hurdle events? It won't be easy. She'll be challenged on the line by two other athletes that have broken 15 seconds this season - Sharon's Jada Johnson (14.78) and Haverhill's Jayla Kitchings (14.98).

The 400m hurdles has potential to come down to the last hurdle before a winner is determined. Milton's Elise O'Leary, our state runner-up in 2017, is the top-seeded athlete in this race. She owns a PB of 1:01.90 and won the Eastern Division 3 title last Saturday with a season best of 1:02.72. Among those that should be in contention this weekend are Martha's Vineyard's Mackenzie Condon (1:03.47), Hopkinton's Caitlyn Halloran (1:03.54) and Amersbury's Chelsea Lynch (1:04.69).
