In an expected close battle between two powerhouses, Tewksbury was able to snare a five-point victory over Milton in this race. Milton's Bridget Mitchell looked very strong in a gun-to-wire victory. She finished with a 18:22.23. Tewksbury's Rachel Sessa was second at 18:44.2. Milton took the next two placements with Elise O'Leary (19:01.64) and Ella Affanato (19:03.75) placing third and fourth, respectively. Tewksbury took the next two positions - Makayla Paige (fifth, 19:14.75) and Lily Robinson (sixth, 19:15.0) - and had five finish before Milton's fifth to eke out the 'W.'
For Mitchell, her victory erased a tough outing from the 2016 race where she struggled to 15th overall in 19:45, a race she ran despite dealing with a sickness that morning.
