EMass Division State Meet: Large School Recaps

Eastern Massachusetts Division 2 Girls

Just like she did at the Twilight Invitational. Just like she did at the Bay State Conference Championships. And just like she has done at any meet she runs against her MA rivals, Natick's Grace Connolly dominated from start to finish and won by 50 seconds over Wellesley's Margaret Donahue. Billerica's Hannah Doherty was third in 18:50.34. Connolly, who crossed the line in a strong 17:40,  admitted it wasn't an all-out effort at the divisionals. She's focused on a time in the 17:20 (or faster) range at next week's All- State Finals. She was six seconds faster than her 2016 winning effort.

In a mild upset, Concord Carlise defeated favored Wellesley for the team title with a 61-69 victory. Sarah Reichheld (fourth, 18:53.80) and Eline Laurent (ninth, 19:25.01) fueled the win. The Patriots solidified the crown with team members Iris Bergman (19:31.17), Ellen Su (19:31.48) and Emma Kerimo (19:32.76) taking the 15th through 17th positions. The future looks bright for Bergman and Kerimo, who are both ninth-graders.
