Martin, Oosting, Burnett & Williams Make It Twice As Nice At MIAA All State Championships

Newton South senior distance ace Clare Martin, Arlington's Ryan Oosting, Needham's Davonte Burnett and Norton sprint sensation Brooke-Lynn Williams were among a distinguished cadre of double winners at the MIAA All State Track and Field Championships, held on the campus of Bridgewater State University.

The Princeton-bound Martin overcame a solid field in the Mile, clocking 4:48.88 (US #14), prior to returning with a robust 2:10.80 at 800m.

A patient Oostling hung back, slightly out of arm's reach of the leaders with about 700m meters remaining before surging to a two mile win in 9:05, before returning with a 4:14.44 performance in the Mile.

Williams' adroitness in the short sprints proved eye-opening as she blitzed the field in the 100m in 12.04 and the 200 pursuers as well in 24.85.

Burnett earned his medals in the 100m and 200m dashes. He was timed in 10.63 in the short sprint and 21.36 for the half-lapper.

Newton North claimed the boys' title, defeating runner-up North Andover, 41-27.33. In the girls' meet, it was Milton over second-place Tewkbury Memorial, 47-39.
