Ten Events To Watch At The All-State Meet

BOYS' 200m

In the starrting blocks and ready to go in this one are four speedsters that have done 22.09 or faster, including two that have dipped under 22 seconds - defending state titlist Nikolas Smith of Northampton and old nemesis Smith Charles of Milton. Smith and Charles will also tangle in the 100m, but this is the Northampton's sprinters best chance for gold (again).  He has been consistently under 22 seconds the last two years and clocked his all-time best of 21.51 at last week's Western/Central Division 1 meet. He's ready! But you can never count out Charles, who always delivers in the championship events.  There's also Needham's Davonte Burnett (22.06) and Fitchburg's Angel Figueroa (22.09) that could make things interesting down the final stretch. A side note: You may want to go over to the long jump pit, too. Charles has stated his goal is to exceed 24 feet and last week he came less than a half foot from that milestone with a leap of 23-6.75 at the divisionals.
