Ten Events To Watch At The All-State Meet

GIRLS' 100m, 200m

We included these two together because of the multiple all-stater that will be competing in both of them - Norton's Brooke-Lynn Williams. The future Penn Stater will close out her outstanding high school career in Massachusetts this weekend and all signs appear for it to be a potential record-breaker. Last week Williams was unchallenged in her specialties and still nearly broke 12 seconds for the 100m and 25 seconds for the 200m. It will happen this week with the quality of the fields that will answer the gun. For the shorter race, Williams clocked a season best of 12.0 at the Eastern Division 4 meet. In this race, she'll be matched against Lexington's India Johnson (12.24), Minnechaug's Kyla Hill (12.33) and Newton South's Calene Lazare. Lazare appears to be the one that will push Williams to the limit. She owns the second fastest time among the bunch with her best of 12.08, which she did to win the Weston Twilight meet a few weeks ago. The meet record of 11.8 appears within reach for Williams. In the 200m, she'll be chasing the 24.43 mark set by Barnstable's Amanda Henson in 2013.  Williams coasted to a state best of 25.09 at the divisionals and has an all-time best of 24.24, which she did at the New Balance Nationals last June. We certainly feel a sub-25 effort will happen this weekend. The record could also be in jeopardy. She'll be pushed in the early goings by Wellessley's Anna Jordahl-Henry (25.12) and Lexinngton's Johnson (25.25) to name a few.
