Five Bold (and not so Bold) Predictions For States

Epic Duel In 600

There will be several events that should produce their share of excitement inside the Reggie Lewis Center. The one we think will be the most electrifying of them all is the boys' 600-meter run. This race matches the No.1 and No. 2 runners in the country with Burncoat's Rodney Agyare-May and Newton North's Theo Burba at the starting line. Agyare-May broke the New England record with a winning time of 1:18.40 at the Armory Track Invitational earlier this month. Burba, who is only a tenth-grader, blazed to a first-place time of 1:19.62 at the Division 1 meet. We think both will break 1:19 on Sunday and there's potential for a third to dip under 1:20.  John Gove of Leominster ran 1:20.55 to finish second to Burba at the divisionals.
