Five Bold (and not so Bold) Predictions For States

Sub 7 For Brooke

She has been agonizingly close to breaking seven seconds in the 55-meter dash all season long, a mark she broke three times last year. Our guess is Brooke Williams will finally do it this weekend. The Norton senior clocked 7.02 seconds to win the Yale Track Classic. She also won the Tri Valley League Championships in 7.01 and took the Division 4 title this past week with a 7.05 effort. With the excitement of the meet, and the fact that she has been consistently teetering with a "sub 7" throughout the winter, she will finally get it done on Sunday. Will she come close to what she did last year when she took the New England crown in a PB of 6.89 and earned gold at the state meet with a 6.91 effort? We're thinking that may be difficult, considering she doesn't have someone like former Cambridge Rindge & Latin standout Brianna Duncan pushing her the whole way like 2016. But she will run under seven seconds.
