
The legendary hot beds of running—Boulder, Flagstaff, and Eugene—and where high profile runners flock to train and live are for the most part in the West. But here, on the other side of the country, Eastern Massachusetts seems to be where these legends emerge and begin their journey to greatness. Over the years we have seen the likes of Shalane Flanagan, Alberto Salazar, Abbey D’Agostino, and Andy Powell come from EMass programs; we might be adding to that list after this Saturday in Wrentham, where another flock of runners will be toeing the line and looking to solidify themselves as one of Eastern Massachusetts’s finest.
Shortly after noon on Saturday, the D1 boys are going to shoot off the line and an epic foot race will ensue.
