Entering its 20th year, the 2015 Amherst Invitational is shaping up to be one of the finer editions in recent history. Taking place on the rolling grass fields of Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, this meet has always served as a telling early season test for New England runners. Though it's only the second official week of the season, with the likes of Abigail Long, Liam Sullivan, the Bishop Feehan girls, and the boys from Lowell, we should expect to see some fireworks!

Going off shortly before noon, the girls varsity 5k will feature a who's who of some of the top runners in the state. Bishop Feehan's Abigail Long opened up her season last week at the Vineyard Invitational in an impressive first race! Long made short work of the entire field and ran away with a 37-second victory to cross the line in 18:19.

Samantha Colletti of Whitman-Hanson will also be toeing the line at Amherst and she will of course be right in the thick of it on Saturday morning. She is known for her mid-distanc...
