Salute to Our Seniors: Ben Henson, Barnstable High School

It has been my privilege and honor to coach Ben.  Ben could always be counted on to score points for the team as he is the quintessential team player.  As Team Captain he was a great motivator.  I wish him well at Embry Riddle.   ------Barnstable Track Coach

What do you enjoy doing outside of your running?

I enjoy writing.  I have been working on a novel for a few years now and I really enjoy it

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race was when my 4x100 relay team broke our school record.  We all worked hard for it and it was great when it paid off

Out of all your high school running accomplishments, what stands out the most?

Taking 5th in Div 1 in the 55m this winter.  There were so many great sprinters this year, I was excited to finish in the top 6.

Do you have any advice for younger runners?

My advice for younger runners is try everything.  Don't put yourself in a stereotype, you don't know which event you will be good at till you try them all

If you were to change anything about your high school running career.....what would you change?

I wouldn't really change anything about my high school career.  I had great guys on my teams and had fun with it.

 What are your college plans?

I will be running track for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach where I will be doing Army ROTC and majoring in Homeland Security.  The coaches, team and facilities are top notch and I am pretty excited to start running with them

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to thank all my coaches, especially Coach Price, who was instrumental in my sprinting success.  Also my dad, who is also my Head Coach and all my team, especially the guys on my 4x100 team who always gave it 100%.
