How was your experience at the Brooks PR Invitational?
Although making the decision to miss All-states to run this meet was tough, it seemed like the right thing to do after talking to my coaches and teammates. I'm glad that I took advantage of the opportunity to participate in the Brooks PR Invitational because the level of competition pushed me to work harder during the race. Meeting athletes from across the U.S. in such a fun yet intense environment was an amazing experience that I will remember for a long time. The professional athletes and coaches were all really cool people with great stories and advice.

Take me through the race and some of your thoughts that were going through your head knowing that your mile split was very fast....
I planned on starting out faster than normal to avoid becoming caught in the back. After seeing how close I was to the leaders, I settled into the race too much and slowed down. I regret this now because I feel that I finished with a lot more to give. Next race I hope to finish exhausted instead of relaxing and then being outkicked at the end. Racing against this field proved how important speed training is and I admire the other runners for their smart racing.
What's next on your agenda?
As of now I plan to run the 5k and/or the 2 mile and New Balance Indoor Nationals in a few weeks, which should be really fun considering that Hingham's boys 4x800 team qualified for nationals with their run at All-states. I haven't discussed much with Coach Jewett about after nationals yet, but likely I'll take a week or two off before spring track. I've never had a strong spring season before so I want to change that pattern this year and be a contributing factor on my team.
Did you get to visit some of Seattle ?
