Masters, Rand & Sterling standout at NEICAAA Championships Oct 08, 2011

Umaine's Riley Masters finished as the runner-up at 2011 NEICAAA All-New England XC Championship meet @ Franklin Park covering the 4.95 mile course in 24:34 (4:59 mile pace). Masters was the first Div 1 runner in the race. Tufts Matt Rand was the top D3 runner in the field, Rand finished 6th 24:55. Another former Maine HS standout Henry Sterling (Dartmouth) finished 10th 25:01. Glarius Rop (AIC) took the win, crossing the finish line in 24:12.

In State's Capital, Women's XC Takes 13th Oct 08, 2011

Running as a combined unit was what coach Julie LaFreniere wanted more of, and she got it on Saturday as the UMass women's cross country team placed a solid 13th in a field of 39 at the New England Championships. With 269 harriers competing, the Minutewomen scored 367 points, while in-state rival Boston College took home the top spot.

Men's XC Steals Seventh At Franklin Park Oct 08, 2011

A trip to the state's capital was just the string of luck required for Ken O'Brien's squad, as the UMass men's cross country team placed a solid seventh place in a field of 39 teams at the New England Championships on Saturday. The trip to Franklin Park was one that featured 282 harriers, including some of the Northeast's most talented teams. With 264 points, the Minutemen were outperformed by only six opponents, as rival UConn took home first place.
