Recapping Another Memorable All State Meet

Under slippery and muddy conditions from a steady rainfall a day earlier, there were no records broken at Saturday's MIAA All State Meet as we expected. But that doesn't mean the three-plus hour meet didn't have it share of exciting moments on the rolling trails of the Wrentham Developmental Center. We had plenty of firsts achieved by our Bay Staters. For the first time in the school's history, Parker Charter claimed a state title, winning a Division 2 boys' crown. In the girls Division 1 race, it was Concord-Carlisle that earned its first plaque in its history. St. John's lived up to its hype by taking the boys' crown, the first time its ever achieved the feat. Individually, St. John's Prep's Tristan Shelgren (Division 1), Newburyport's Sam Acquaviva (Division 2) and Littleton's Sarah Roffman (Division 2) captured their inaugural state titles.

On the other end, Mount Greylock won the Division 2 girls' title, the fifth time its took home the plaque. And then there's Grace. It the no surprise category, Natick's Grace Connolly dominated the Division 1 girls' race, winning her second straight X-C title.

Here's our take on what happened at the Big Dance.
