What's Up With Grace & Ryan (& Other X-C Stuff)?

Teams Heating Up

It's too early to get an accurate picture on who the top schools will be when the championship meets get underway towards the end of this month, but a few have shown they'll certainly be among the mix when it comes to team prosperity. Wellesley High, which is listed among the boys' contenders in Division 1, showed their early-season mettle at Ocean State by claiming the team prize in the competitive Championship race, a division that featured strong local schools, St. John Prep and Mansfield. While the Red Raiders were making it happen in R.I., Saint John's, another Div. 1 power, got it all right at the Bowdoin X-C Classic when it won the Div. 2 race with just 53 points. Over a very-demanding 5K course, St. John's had three of its runners under 17 minutes. The weekend was capped by one other quality performance from our state with Lowell finishing second to Bishop Hendricken (RI) at the Manchester Invitational in New Hampshire. Lowell was only 26 points behind the Hawks, one of the top squads in New England!
