How Did MA Athletes Fare At NBNI?



The Bay State had three All-American finishes in the relay events. Marshfield snared the final spot in the 4x800m relay with a PB of 7:51.41. Mike Maglio (1:58.45), Joey Donovan (1:58.08), Derek Holmes (1:57.67) and James Condon (1:57.21) comprised the team. Also breaking eight minutes was St. John' Shrewsbury (7:57.59) and Wakefield (7:59.61). The fastest split in all the relays belonged to St. John's Ben Kovacs, who was timed in 1:56.05. In the girls' 4xMile, Milton took runner-up honors with a time of 20:41.08. The foursome included Elise O'Leary (5:11.47), Ella Affanato (5:15.85), Collette O'Leary (5:15.40) and Bridget Mitchell (4:58.37). There also was St. John's Shrewsbury that was able to finish in the top sixth, taking fourth overall in the boys' 4xMile with a 17:52.15 clocking. Patrick Craemer (4:25.70), Joshua Rahn (4:30.0), Joseph Walsh (4:36.06) and Kovacs (4:20.39) made up the squad. The Milton girls were also fourth in the DMR with the O'Learys, Mitchell and Josie Cousineau running the 400m leg. In the 4x200m, Newton North (1:31.34), Brighton (1:31.79) and Wachusett(1:31.79) also dipped under 1:32 in the boys' 4x200m. The girls' 4x400m had two squads under four minutes - Woburn (3:59.41) and Hopkinton (3:59.83).
