Gold medal worthy at New England's?

DJ Principe, two mile

The La Salle Academy junior is the top seed in the two mile run and is worthy of the favorite status for Sunday's race. He was second in the 3K at the Yale Track Classic where he ran a PB of 8:26.51. He also clocked an all-time best of 9:07.35 for two miles at the Ocean Breeze Invite and won his second straight 3K crown at last week's state meet. Did we also say he ran a four-second PR of 4:11 for the mile at the Grand Prix event. DJ's toughest competitor will be Connecticut's Eric van der Els of Brien McMahon, who has run similar times to the Ram standout and last year was second at the NE meet where he ran 9:08.67.
