Raven Saunders (Shot Put HS National Record Holder and indoor & outdoor SP NCAA Champ as a true freshmen) was baptized at and grew up minutes from Emanuel Church, where nine people were massacred recently. Her grandmother attends that church and it is very dear to Saunders' heart. Saunders has decided to dedicate her performance and give her SP Jr. gold medal to the church and those who were killed. She is wearing a shirt in honor of the nine people that were murdered. At the end of the interview she discusses all of that and is nearly in tears. She also competed in the Sr. competition and placed 8th.
