A Look Back and More.... May 17, 2013

This past weekend had some memorable performances by Massachusetts athletes throughout the Northeast.  For many years the Coaches Invitational was the premier event of the season as runners test their mid-season conditioning against the best in the State. Now our May schedule has given our athletes more options with meets like the Andover Boosters Meet ,The Glenn D. Loucks Games, and the New Balance Twilight Series. These meets have slightly downsized the Coaches Meet but we still had plenty of fine performances across the board.

Boston Herald: Newton North Boasts winners May 12, 2013

Newton North dominated yesterday’s State Coaches Invitational boys meet with four different first place finishers, but it was BC High’s Jordan Samuels who shone brightest on the day. Samuels won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.06 seconds, came in second place in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 31⁄2 inches, and helped the Eagles place fourth in the 4 x 100 relay to earn Athlete of the Meet honors. “Honestly I thought that I did pretty bad today, so I wasn’t expecting to win the award,” said a modest Samuels. “I was on the phone telling my dad that I did badly when they announced I had won it, so I was pretty shocked.”
