The Mustangs cross country team are looking to make tracks this season. Longtime Medford High Coach Lou Ruggiero opens the season with a fresh batch of new recruits, complimented by a strong returning cast of varsity letterman, as they try to take the next step in its evolution. The elder statesmen among MHS coaches, Ruggiero takes pride in his work. “In my 33 years of coaching cross country at Medford High, I have strived to make my athletes understand that it takes time to be an accomplished runner,” he said. “It is not something you can achieve in a week or two. Personnel goals have to be made first and then we can set up our team goals. Our athletes are working hard at the present to reach that first goal.”
