It’s inaccurate to categorize the Newburyport boys cross-country team’s upcoming season as a state-title defense because the two top runners from last year’s team won’t even be on the team this year.So it’s not so much a title defense, as a repeat title attempt.Chris Suprin and Keith Conway, the top two finishers among Newburyport’s runners last season, both graduated last spring, leaving the door open for a new class of runners to showcase themselves. Suprin will be running at UMass Lowell this fall, Conway at Wesleyan University.
