Notre Dame Academy entered the meet with all the tools needed to chase the team title, but Kelsey Whitaker winning the mile was going to be a key component. The senior distance runner set the tone for the young team by posting a three second win (5:10.53) in the event and secured ten valuable team points in the process. From there, NDA looked to be in control of the meet with impactful points from Amanda Reilly in the 55m and Isabella DiMare in the 55m hurdles. But North Attleboro was slowly chipping away at their lead behind the solid performances of Nicole Sarkis (3rd in the 600m), Samantha Kroll (3rd in the 300m) and Sydney Bennett (3rd in the 55m hurdles). Bennett also won the shot put and North Attleboro added significant points in the relays. The end result was a one point win for North Attleboro over NDA, 39 to 40.

On the boys’ side, Mansfield and Marshfield traded shots, but the Mansfield sprinters combined for relay points that were just too much for Marshfield to overcome. In the end, Mansfield would create a six point gap to take home another Division 2 Championship.

Jen Esposito of Mansfield set a new meet record and blasted the field with her 8.20 winning time in the 55m hurdles. Her male counterpart, Liam Cross of Falmouth, posted a MA#2 time of 7.68 and was just off his MA#1 time of 7.67 from the MSTCA Elite meet.

The 600m provided plenty of excitement with both championships coming down to the wire. Laurie Femmel of Natick held off Jade Paul of Stoughton 1:35.60 to 1:35.95. Their times are now MA#2 and MA#4, respectively. The boys race also came down to the wire with JD Greenfield of Reading (1:23.00) hanging-on to edge Dan Duquette of North Attleboro (1:23.59) and Griffin Robertson of Mansfield (1:23.90).

The Hubbards of Marshfield ruled the 1,000m with Jocelyn winning the girls race in 3:01.84, and Joel winning the boys race in 2:27.43. Joel’s time is currently US#4 and second place Josh Lampron of Mansfield is now US#5 with his 2:27.57. Also getting in on the national rankings action was Brendan Robertson of Westborough who is now US#9 after finishing third in 2:29.46. The pack went out in 60 seconds for the first 400m, and then they stepped on the gas. Hubbard led Robertson and Lampron through 800m at 1:58 and was able to hold on for the win. This was Lampron’s first big race following months of altered training due to an injury, and the competition might have just awoken a giant.
-
Rebecca Robinson of Arlington cruised to a win in the 300m. Her 40.44 winning time is MA#2, but she still holds the top time in the state of 39.70 from the Middlesex League Indoor Meet #4.

Charles Ruffin of King Philip juggled the 55m the 300m, and the long jump like the veteran he is. Ruffin was tied for the fastest qualifying time in the 55m prelims (6.55) and then finished second in the 300m (35.36) to Donovan Henry of Catholic Memorial (35.12 / MA#2). Henry forced Ruffin to the brink –as he does to most competitors – but Ruffin valiantly returned to finish 3rd in the 55m (6.60) behind PJ Hayes of Walpole (6.45 / MA#2) and Valerio Silva of Woburn (6.50 / MA#3). Hayes and Henry both set meet records with their winning performances. To cap off the day, Ruffin finished second in the long jump at 21’5.5” and contributed 22 points to King Philip’s team total.

Michelle Savoie of Milford amassed a team point total by herself. She won the long jump with a MA#2 mark of 17’11.5”, finished second in the high jump at 5’2”, and was 5th in the 600m (1:40.63). The three performances combined resulted in 22 total points and a 9th place team finish for Milford. Savoie’s long jump was also a new meet record.
Below are the performances entered for the meet that met the national silver standard.
