Sophomore Top 10
Two familiar names headline the sophomore group, as Carla Forbes and Catarina Rocha both lead two events. Forbes sits atop the long jump (18’6”) and the triple jump (40’2”), while Rocha leads the mile (5:00.76) and the 2 mile (10:44.99). Amy Collins of Wachusett is also ranked in two events; she is second in the high jump at 5’4” and second in the long jump at 17’7.25”.
On the boys’ side, Colin Bennie gained some valuable elite level experience as his Wachusett relay teams took the country by storm at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Bennie leads the mile (4:21.54) and the 2 mile (9:24.72), but it looks like there is a healthy rivalry brewing in this group. Mike O’Donnell is not far behind Bennie in the mile at 4:25.74, and Patrick Coppinger is closing in on both at 4:26.08. Coppinger is also a factor in the 2 mile at 9:40.84, but Bennie’s biggest challenge in the event may come from Nathaniel Adams who is ranked 2nd at 9:25.83. Rounding out this stellar group is Tim Cox of Acton-Boxborough. Cox showed tremendous range this season and is currently ranked #1 in the 800m (1:55.81), #5 in the mile (4:30.00), and #7 in the 2 Mile (9:46.43).
