League Championship Week Updates

League championship week has begun and MileSplitMass will be following all the action as it unfolds. Meets will be added to this page as results and information become available. 

 

Mid-Wach Class A Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • Wachusett won both team titles over second place Algonquin.
  • Amy Collins of Wachusett won the high jump (5'4"), the 400m (60.26), and finished second in the long jump (17'7.25").   Michelle Savoie of Milford won the long jump MA#4 mark of 17'10".
  • Freshman Dominique Hall of Shrewsbury won the 100m in 12.86.
  • Laura Williamson of Wachusett won the mile (5:12.93), but not before being challenged by Katie Carlson of Wachusett (5:13.68), and Amy Trainque of Fitchburg (5:13.97). Williamson would also win 800m (2:23.39) and the triple jump (36'0.75").
  • Alex Jagelsky of Wachusett won the 800m in 1:57.96.
  • James Brodeur of Milford won the javelin with a throw of 169'5".  Jordan Entwistle of Algonquin was second at 163'9".
  • Jack Frey of Shrewsbury edged teammate Alex Paulina 20'3" to 20'2" for the long jump win.
  • Jeremie Bennie of Wachusett won the mile in 4:29.73.

 

SWCL Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Shepherd Hill boys won by 58 points, but it was much closer for the girls.  The Millbury girls edged Shepherd Hill 111 to 102 for the title.
  • Jerry Drane of Uxbridge repeated as 200m champion; winning the event in 23.44.  Drane also won the 400m in 53.02.
  • Chaz Davis of Grafton won the mile (4:41.32) and was 4th in the 800m (2:07.05).
  • Nikita Truchanovitch of Bartlett won the 110m hrudles (15.85) and the 400m hurdles (59.96).
  • Obi Melifonwu of Grafton won the long jump (19'3.5") and the triple jump (41'10.5").
  • Evan Jean-Guillaume of Shepherd Hill won the shot put (46'8.5"), the 100m (11.51), and finished 2nd in the 200m (23.63).
  • Shaun Nystrom of Oxford set a new meet record in the discus with his winning throw of 148'7".  Nystrom is now MA#12.
  • Julie Richer of Northbridge won the 800m (2:29.00) and the 2 mile (12:17.21).
  • Emily Cahill of Uxbridge won the 100m hurdles (15.99), the 100m (13.55), and the high jump (5'2").
  • Brittany Hodgerney of Leicester won the 400m (59.72), the long jump (15'9.75"), and finished 2nd in the triple jump (33'1").  Freshman Brooke Nadeau of Millbury won the triple jump at 35'00".  
  • Corrie Molleur of Tantasqua won the javelin with a MA#6 throw of 125'5".

 

Mayflower League Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • West Bridgewater won both team titles, but the Sacred Heart boys and Southeastern girls made them work for it.
  • Dante Bittle of Holbrook crushed the field in winning the 110m hurdles.  His 15.98 time was over 2 seconds ahead of 2nd place.  Bittle also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 38'4.75".
  • Sean Donovan of Bristol Plymouth won the javelin with a throw of 167'3".
  • Sacred Heart teammates Meghan Quinn and Erin Bracken would battle it out in the 100m hurdles.  Quinn would edge Bracken 18.38 to 18.39 for the win.
  • Ja'Chelle Comer (Southeastern) won the shot put with a mark of 33'11".  She was over 7 feet ahead of second place.
  • Krista Ledin of West Bidgewater won the long jump at 16'10".
  • Natalie Rivera of Southeastern won the 200m (28.09) and the high jump (5'0").

 

Cape Ann League Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Hamilton-Wenham girls finished 10-0 to complete their second consecutive undefeated season.  They would finish 3rd (88 pts.) at the league meet behind North Andover (98 pts.) and Ipswich (94 pts.).
  • The Triton boys would win the league meet, but it would be close.  They finished 7 points ahead of Newburyport with 109 points.
  • Taelour Murphy of Triton Regional won the 100m with a MA#2 time of 12.43.  Megan Goodwin of Lynnfield finished second in a MA#10 time of 58.89.
  • Hanna O'Flynn of Ipswich won the 400m in a MA#7 time of 58.79.  She also won the discus (102'0") and the javelin (100'0").
  • Allison Lanois of Hamilton-Wenham won the 800m (2:22.54) and the mile (5:11.25).
  • Hamilton-Wenham ran a MA#9 time of 9:49.74 in the girls 4x800m relay.
  • Holly Sullivan of Ipswich won the long jump with a MA#5 mark of 17'7.75".  Dana McManus of North Andover finished second with a MA#6 jump of 17'1".
  • Nick Capezzuto of North Reading won the 100m (11.44) and the 200m (22.71).
  • Conor Lyons (Hamilton-Wenham), Ben Hiromura (Masconomet), and Kieran Kinnare (Ipswich) would never meet in a race.  Lyons won the 800m (1:58.46), Hiromura won the mile (4:32.74), adn Kinnare won the 2 mile (9:53.56).
  • Jonh O'Neil of Newburypot won the 110m hurdles (15.04) and set a new meet record in the 400m hurdles (57.03).  His 400m hurdles time is now MA#10.
  • Newburyport would set a new meet record in the boys 4x400m.  Their time of 3:31.84 just edged the 1996 record of 3:32.70 set by Wilmington.
  • Hamilton-Wenham would beat their own 2009 meet record of 8:17.60 in the boys 4x800m.  They won the event in 8:16.68.
  • Nate Downs of Wilmington is now MA#6 after his winning long jump of 22'1".
  • Steve Knox of Lynnfield won the shot put (47'8") and the discus (141'8.25").
  • Ryan Clay won the javelin with a MA#6 throw of 179'4".

 

South Shore League Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • Ian Peuser of Rockland won the 200m in a MA#3 time of 22.29.  Peuser has a converted hand time that is slightly faster (22.24), but this is the fastest fully automatic time in the state.  He also finished second in the high jump at 5'10".
  • Terrence Gibson of Rockland won the 110m hurldes in a MA#4 time of 14.96.  Gibson also won the long jump at 19'6".
  • Joe Hak of East Bridgewater won the shot put (49'1.75") and finished 3rd in the discus (121'02").
  • Alyssa Jasper of Rockland won the shot put with a MA#6 throw of 36'2".  This current mark is just behind her 36'6" throw from the South Shore Principal's meet last Saturday.

 

Mid-Wach Class B Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • Westborough won both over Nashoba, but it was a close one for the girls with only 6.5 points separating the two teams.
  • Sarah Hilton of Groton-Dunstable won the 100m (13.09) and the 200m (26.90).
  • Tove Freeman of Quabbin won the triple jump (32'1.75") and the 400m (59.99).
  • Westborough has emerged as a pole vault powerhouse; taking 3 of the top 4 spots.  Casey Teska of Nashoba Regional won the event at 11'0", but she would be followed by Nashoba teammates Erin Silva (11'0"), Catelyn Griffin (10'0"), and Meg Darnley (10'0").
  • Natoli Palma of Westborough won the shot put (33'9") and the discus (104'5").
  • A pair of  freshmen dominated the distance races.  Kaylee Cummings of Hudson won the 800m (2:28.88), and Kelsey Horowitz of Nashoba won the mile (5:37.35).
  • Richard Sterndale of Westborough won the Javelin with a MA#4 throw of 180'2".  He also won the shot put at 44'8".
  • Chris Garmon of Gardler won the long jump by 0.25" (20'4.25") over Shane Ruffing of Westborough.  Ruffing would return to win the triple jump (43'3.25") and the 110m hurdles (15.20).
  • Darnell Butler of Hudson won the 200m (23.46) and finished second in the 100m (11.56).
  • Jair Cruikshank took over the #1 spot in the state with his winning time of 54.23 in the 400m hurdles.

 

Catholic Conference Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • BC High earned the win in a very well-rounded effort.
  • Drew Calcagno (BC High) won the mile in 4:30.22.  He was followed by teammate Charlie Coffman who finished second in 4:31.69.
  • Catholic Memorial ran a MA#2 time of 43.37 to win the 4x100m relay.
  • Nick Staley of BC High won the 110m hurdles (15.84), the 400m hurdles (58.65), and the high jump (6'3").
  • The long jump came down to fractions.  Yosa Nosamiefan (BC High) would get the win at 22'2.75" and Nick Pesaturo (St. John's Prep) would finish second at 22'2.5".  Their marks are MA#1 and MA#2 respectively.
  • St. John's Prep would take the top 4 spots in the discus behind the winning effort of Sean Enos (155'2").  Enos also won the shot put at 52'6". 
  • Zack Robertson (BC High) won the javelin with a 167'10" throw.  Scott Sheehan (St. John's Prep) finished second at 164'2".

 

Merrimack Valley League Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Andover girls won by 26 points over second place Cental Catholic. The Lowell boys had a much tougher time; edging Central Catholic by only 2.5 points.
  • Andover and Tewksbury would battle it out in the girls 4x400m, with Andover getting the win 4:05.28 to 4:05.90.
  • Jess Bridle of Tewksbury won the 100m (12.74) and the 400m (59.30).
  • Julie Solimine of Haverhill and Kayla Springford of Dracut  both ran under the 1993  2 mile meet record of 11:18.90 set by Susan Ashlock of Andover.  Solimine would get the win in 11:12.35, followed closely by Springford in 11:14.69.
  • Bryanna Allison of Lowell won the mile in 5:17.56.  She would be challenged the entire way by Nicolette Pelrine of Tewksbury who finished in 5:19.70.
  • Rebecca Stabile of Haverhill won the 400m hurdles in a MA#8 time 64.96.
  • Moira Cronin of Andover takes over the top spot in the state with her winning mark of 5'8" in the high jump.  She is now tied for US#27.
  • Andrea Caprio of Tewksbury won the javelin with a MA#4 throw of 130'2".
  • Stephanie White of Billerica won the shot put (37'10") and the discus (98'7").
  • Simon Voorhees of Andover won the 2 mile  in 9:36.92, but Lowell would take the next 3 spots to secure some big team points.
  • Mike Giardina of Lowell won the 800m in 1:57.80, and  would be followd closely by teammate Patrick Coppinger who finished in 1:57.83.  Giradina would also win the mile in 4:24.56; with Michael O'Donnell of Methuen finishing second (4:25.74), and Coppinger finnishing third (4:26.08).
  • Cam Walsh won the pole vault with a MA#4 clearance of 14'3".
  • Dan Cormier of Methuen won the shot put with a MA#5 throw of 52'7.25", and Kevin Conboy of Central Catholic finished second with a throw of 50'11.5".  Conboy would also finish second in the javelin (168'6") behind Mario DeJesus of Central Catholic (169'5").
  • Richard Kirby of Tewksbury won the 400m hurdles in a MA#4 time of 56.34.
  • Andover took over the #1 spot in the state with their winning time of 43.11 in the boys 4x100m.
  • Gilberto Brown of Lowell won the long jump (19'8.25") and the triple jump (43'1").

 

Western Mass D1 Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • Selena Yates (Holyoke) won the 200m in a MA#1 time of 24.95, followed by Brianna Tabin (South Hadley) in 25.21.  Yates is the only MA athlete to break 25 seconds this season.
  • Mia Toffoli of Northampton won the 400m in a MA#2 time of 57.98.
  • Madison Granger of Belchertown won the 800m in a MA#2 time of 2:15.13.  Jenn Fisher (Minnechaug Reg.) finished second in a MA#8 time of 2:17.34. 
  • Lauren Kennedy (East Longmeadow) won the javlin with a MA#6 throw of 120'1".
  • Camille Blackman of Longmeadow won the mile in a MA#2 time of 5:03.90.
  • Jon Horstman of South Hadley won the 800m by 6 seconds; clocking in with a MA#5 time of 1:56.20. Horstman also won the 400m in 51.90.
  • Greg Copeland of Longmeadow soared to a MA#2 clearance of 14'7" to win the pole vaut.  Copeland also won the 110m hurdles in 15.50 after running 15.37 in the prelims.
  • Tchuijo Nkamebo (Amherst-Pelham) took over the top spot in the state with his winning triple jump mark of 46'10".  Jasper McCoy (Springfield Science & Tech) finished second with a MA#3 leap of 45'3".  Nkamebo also won the 200m in 22.86 and ran a strong leg on the winning 4x100m team.
  • Jwan Daniels-Dyer (Holyoke) and Cory Babinski (Westfield) would both clear 6'4" in the high jump.  Daniels-Dyer would get the win based on misses.
  • A.J. Cummings of West Springfield won the javelin with a throw of 161'04".
  • Arianna Quesnel (Ludlow) won the 400m hurdles in a MA#10 time of 65.96.
  • The Springfield Central 4x100m team of Jasmin Whitley, Imani Gladden, Brionna Voight, and Payton Shubrick won the event in a MA#4 time of 50.34.

 

ACL Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • Marshfield won both team titles.
  • Joel Hubbard of Marshfield won the 800m in 1:57.77.  He was followed closely by Sean Nee of Dennis-Yarmouth who finished second in 1:58.00.
  • John Lavin of Falmouth won the discus with a MA#8 throw of 151'1".
  • Dennis-Yarmouth took 3 of the top 4 spots in the 100m but Marshfield still got the best of them in the 4x100m.  Marshfield would win the event in 45.49, with Dennis-Yarmouth finishing second in 45.75.
  • Kevin Thomas of Marshfield won the mile in 4:27.35.  He was challenged by Dan Gordon of Plymouth North who finished second in 4:28.21.  Sandwich put 4 athletes in the top 10; starting with David Regan who finished 6th in 4:43.76.
  • Hadlee Coker of Falmouth won the high jump with a MA#7 mark of 5'3".
  • Ryan Talanian of Marshfield won the 200m (23.36), the long jump (21'3"), and anchored the winning 4x100m team.
  • Bailey Burke of Dennis-Yarmouth won the discus (110'0") and the shot put (33'2").
  • Jocelyn Hubbard of Marshfield won the 800m in 2:22.76.
  • Jordan O'Dea of Dennis-Yarmouth won the mile in 5:21.68.

 

NEC Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Peabody boys win in a blowout (151 points).  The Swampscott girls win by 4 points over Beverly, and 6 points over Marblehead.
  • Kyle Hurd of Gloucester won the 800m in 1:57.08.
  • Zach Grube of Peabody won the high jump at 6'4".
  • Olisa Obiefuna of Saugus won the triple jump at 43'6.25" and the 200m in 23.28.
  • 3 boys would throw over 140 feet in the discus.  George Kallas of Beverly won the event at 144'1"; followed by Chris Unis of Gloucester (143'7") and Danny Plunkett of Marblehead (140'8").
  • Jermaine Kelly won the javelin with a MA#11 mark of 167'11".
  • Hulerie McGuffie (Classical) won the 400m in a MA#1 time of 57.96 and the long jump with a MA#7 mark of 17'0".
  • Catarina Rocha of Peabody won the mile in a MA#2 time of 5:00.76.  Her teammate Sam Allen was second in 5:28.47.
  • Jasmile Bryant of Salem won the 100m hurdles in a MA#7 time of 15.53, and the triple jump with a mark of 35'10.25".
  • Tori Hilshey of Gloucester won the high jump at 5'2". 

 

Boston Public Schools League Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Hyde Park boys and Dorchester girls secured division titles last Monday with wins against Brighton and Snowden, but the O'Bryant girls and East Boston boys would win the league meet.
  • O'Bryant took the top 2 spots in the high jump, with Wemdy Unaegba earning the win at 4'10" and Jade Arnold-Smith finishing second at 4'8".  Arnold-Smith would also win the 100m in 12.8.
  • Adrienne Thornton (O'Bryant) won the shot put with a mark of 34'0".  
  • Deron Smith of West Roxbury won the 100m; clocking in at 10.9.
  • Miguel Sabio of Brighton won the 200m (22.8) and the javelin (129'5").

 

Tri-Valley League Championships

Meet Results - 5/19/2011

Highlights

  • The Hopkinton boys captured their second consecutive TVL crown last Thursday after defeating Norton 86-50.  They would go on to win the league meet with 127 points.  The Hopkinton girls also won the league meet with a very similar point total of 126.
  • It was a close mile, with .49 separating the top 3 boys.  Tim Bolick of Hopkinton won the event in 4:32.47; followed by Matt Reissfelder of Westwood (4:32.66) and Ben Lester of Medfield (4:33.02).  Bollick would also finish second in the 2 mile (10:19.06) behind Bobby McLaughlin of Westwood (10:08.90).  Lester would return to finish second in the 800m (2:01.73) behind Erik Brakke of Westwood (2:00.30).
  • Ryan Webster of Hopkinton would win the 110m hurdles (15.46), the long jump (19'7.5"), and would finish third in the 400m hurdles (58.99).  Teammate Josh Hacunda won the 400m hurdles (58.68), with James Marvel-Coen of Medfield finishing second (58.95).
  • Tayla Allen of Westwood would finish second in the 100m (12.83) to Courtney Williams of Norton (12.71).  But Allen would return to win the 200m (27.09) and Williams would finish second in the long jump (16'4.5").
  • Nora Smith of Westwood won the mile in 5:13.95; with Lee Milne of Dover-Sherborn not far behind at 5:16.92.  Smith would go on to win the 800m in 2:26.23 and Milne would finish second in the 2 mile (11:54.10) to Kellie Lodge of Hopkinton (11:45.89).
  • Alex Stanton of Medfield won the 100m hurdles (15.91), the 400m hurdles (64.03), and the long jump (16'8.5").
  • Vickie Palmatier of Holliston won the shot put (34'0") and the discus (87'10").

 

 

Western Mass D2 Championships

Meet Results

Highlights

  • Tilly Taylor of Frontier Regional won the javelin with a MA#6 throw of 121'8".
  • Jenn Cardinal (Holyoke Catholic) and Sydney Engelberger (Monument Mountain) would need a photo finish to determin the winner of the 800m.  Cardnial would edge Engelberger 2:26.61 to 2:26.66.
  • Paul Guerino of Dury won the 400m hurdles in a MA#12 time of 57.98.
  • Trent George (Mahar) won the long jump (20'10.75), the 200m (22.32), and the 400m (50.48).
  • Xavier Whitaker (Mohawk) won the triple jump (43'9.5") and was second in the 400m at 52.04.
  • Mt. Greylock went 1-2 in the girls 400m.  Liz Gorson won the event in 60.16, followed by Oona Wood in 60.34.  Mt. Greylock would also sweep the 200m, with Alex Majetich winning the event in 26.65, followed by Liz Gorson (26.65) and Jenna Phelps (27.35).
  • KC Funssell  of Monson and Andrew Harmon of Hoosac Valley would battle to the end in the mile.  Fussell would get the win in 4:41.73, with Harmon  not far behind in 4:42.00.

 

Mid-Wach Class C Championships

Meet Results 

Highlights

  • The Lunenburg girls finished the regular season undefeated in league at 4-0, but Bromfield was close behind at 4-1.  The same scenario was true for the boys with Lunenburg leading at 4-0 and Bromfield sitting in second at 3-1-1.  Lunnenburg would win the league meet in both.
  • Matt Thompson of Clinton won the discus by over 30 feet with a throw of 146'4".
  • Ben Reif of Lunenburg won the long jump (20'4.25") and the triple jump (40'10.5").
  • Nick Kronauer of Bromfield was the only boy to run under 5 minutes in the mile.  He would win the event in 4:48.99 and would also win the 800m in 2:08.01.
  • Brittany Green of Lunenburg won the shot put with a MA#2 mark of 37'3.5".  Green also won the javelin with a throw of 87'6.5".
  • Krista Webb of Narragansett won the long jump (16'6") and finished second in the high jump (4'10").  Sarah Andrews (Bromfield) would also jump 4'10" in the high jump, but she would get the win based on misses.
  • Freshman Julia Rembetsy-Brown of Oakmont won the 100m (13.39) and the 200m (27.13).
  • Anna and Renee Capps of Narragansett would go 1-2 in the 2 mile; finishing in 12:18.64 and 12:18.84 respectively.  Renee would also finish second in the mile (5:22.23) behind Jennifer Markum of Lunenburg (5:22.10). 
  • Mimi Narbonne of Bromfield won the 400m in a MA#10 time of 58.95.
  • Alexia Lipman of Bromfield won the 800m in 2:23.70.  She was followed by Anna Capps in second at 2:25.66.

 

Greater Boston League Championships

Meet Results  - 5/19/2011

Highlights

  • Somerville would win both over second place Cambridge R&L
  • Peter Duperier of Everett would in the 200m (23.41), ahead of 400m standout Andre Rolim of Somerville (23.50).
  • Somerville would win the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:28.50.
  • Cambridge R&L swept the long jump, with Raphael Guzman and Jacob Kasperwoski tied at 20'2".  Guzman would get the win basd on his second best jump of 20'1.5".
  • A similar scenario would happen in the triple jump.  Herby LaFortune (Somerville) would win the event at 40'7", but Jeffery Badette (Cambridge R&L) and Ravitz Dupervil (Malden) would tie at 39'5".  Badette would pick-up second place based on this second best jump of 39'3.5".
  • Michelle Meranda (Somerville) and Tameka Vincent (Cambridge R&L) would both run under the meet record in the 400m hurdles.  Meranda would get the win at 68.79, followed by Vincent in 69.01.
  • Somerville swept the girls long jump.  Ashley Murphy would get the win at 16'0.75"; followed by Emma Youte (15'6.5") and Gelyne Berger (14'7.25").
  • Nicole Genard of Somerville won the 100m hurdles (16.37) and just missed the meet record of 122'9" in the javelin.  She would win the event with a throw of 121'01".

 

 

Colonial Athletic League Championships

Meet Results  - 5/19/2011

Highlights

  • The Parker boys won the team title by 73 points over second place Blackstone Valley, while the Blackstone Valley girls won by 35 points over second place Parker.
  • Parker was dominant in the distance races; sweeping the boys 800m and 2 mile, while taking 2 of the top 3 spots in the mile.  Rocky Either won the 800m in 2:09.51, Keith Rossi won the mile in 5:02.63, and Matt Hoatling won the 2 mile in 11:11.81.
  • Freshman Fanta Sackor (Worcester Tech) won the 100m by almost a full second in 13.59.
  • Hailey Peterson of Blackstone Valley won the 800m (2:38.70) and the mile (5:49.23).
  • Trish Sardagnola of Assabet Valley won the 100m hurdles (17.55) and the 400m hurdles (1:15.53).

 

 

Hockomock League Championships

Meet Results  - 5/19/2011 (running events), 5/21/2011 (field events)

Highlights

  • The girls 800m was a burner!  Jade Paul of Stoughton won the event in a MA#3 time of 2:16.74; followed by Emily Grotz of Oliver Ames (2:18.55 / MA#6), and Lauren Hagen of Franklin (2:18.74 / MA#8).
  • Chris Allen of King Philip won the 2 mile by over 20 seconds with a MA#2 time of 9:27.40.  
  • Josh Lampron (Mansfield) won the 800m with a MA#3 time of 1:55.62.  He still holds the #1 time in the state of 1:54.30; a feat he accomplished at a dual meet earlier in the season.
  • Lauren Berman of Canton led a group of four girls that ran under 5:20 for the mile.  Berman would clock-in at 5:12.80 for the win; followed by Alexandria Giese of Franklin (5:14.10), Stacey Wojcik of King Philip (5:16.20), and Lauren Columbare of Mansfield (5:16.23).
  • Jen Esposito won the 400m hurdles in 62.53.  She still leads the state by over 3 seconds at 61.54; a time she ran at the Penn Relays.
  • Jon Raduazzo of Oliver Ames won the 400m in a MA#4 time of 49.88.
  • Shayne Collins of Mansfield won the mile in 4:23.88.  He was followed by Andrew Hood of Franklin in 4:28.74.
  • Bradey Shorey (North Attleboro) and Jonathon Vaughn (Canton) ended the 100m with a photo finish.  Shorey would get the win in 11.25, with Vaughn close behind at 11.28.
  • Josh Quinnie of Attleboro continued his winning streak by demolishing the field in the 110m hurdles; winning the event in a MA#3 time of 14.80.  Absent from the race was Greg Boursiquiot of Stoughton.
  • Mansfield ran a MA#4 time of 43.66 in the boys 4x100m relay to win the event.
  • Kristen McDonagh of Mansfield won the high jump with a MA#2 clearance of 5'7".  She aslo won the triple jump at 35'11.75".
  • Megan McHugh of North Attleboro won the javelin with a throw of 126'1".  She still leads the state at 138'2".
  • Tristan Richardson of North Attleboro won the high jump at 6'6".  Kevin Cutler of Attleboro was second at 6'4".
  • Don Caouette of North Attleboro won the shot put at 50'11".
  • Anthony Todesco of Mansfield won the discus with a throw of 141'8".
  • Dan Charest of Franklin won the javelin at 169'11.
  • The Oliver Ames boys clinched the Davenport Division title with their 94-42 win over Sharon last Tuesday.  But, the Sharon Girls won the 4x400m in that day to tie the meet at 68 points and force Oliver Ames to settle for a Co-Championship with the Eagles.

 

Bay State Conference Championships

Meet Results  - 5/18/2011

Highlights

  • Cory Ryan of Norwood won her 4th consecutive 200m title in 25.58.  Her time is the second fastest in the state.
  • Khary Bailey-Smith won the high jump  (6'8"), the long jump (22'0"), and anchored the winning 4x100m relay team for Weymouth.
  • Laurie Femmel (Natick) won the 400m (60.21) and the 400m hurdles (64.30).  But Karla Ganley of Wellesley made it a close one in the 400m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 64.33.
  • Megan Gentile of Newton North won the shot put with a MA#3 throw of 36'9".
  • Tatiana Froehlich of Newton North now has the top two discus throws in the state; winning the event with a mark of 122'0".
  • Ezra Lichtman (Newton North) edged Steven Sollowin (Weymouth) in the last 100m to win the mile.  
  • Freshman Evie Heffernan of Newton North won the girls mile in 5:14.33.  She now has the fastest freshman time in the state.
  • Eva Lauer of Wellesley won the 2 mile in a MA#6 time of 11:10.73.
  • Todd Granoff (Natick) and Brian Hazzard (Needham) would need a photo to decide the winner of the 200m.  Granoff would edge Hazzard 23.36 to 23.38.
  • Peter Farlow (Needham) won the 110m hurdles (15.19), the 400m hurdles (57.44), and was second in the long jump (20'6.5").
  • Swardiq Mayanja was a double winner; taking the shot put (50'3") and the discus (140'6").
  • Kelin Alves of Braintree continues to throw over 160 feet in the javelin.  He won the event with a throw of 168'3", but was challenged by Ian Riley of Needham who finished second with a throw of 166'7".

 

DCL Championships

Performance List 

Highlights

  • Andrea Keklak (Lincoln-Sudbury) ran the fastest time in the state (5:00.41) to win the mile by almost 12 seconds.  Katie Jessee (Concord-Carlisle) and Abigail Pohl (Weston) would battle for second with Jessee edging Pohl 5:12.33 to 5:12.57.  Keklak also won the javelin with a mark of 106'5".
  • Rebecca Robinson (Arlington) won the 200m in a MA#2 time of 25.70.  Robinson would end-up second in the 100m to Emma Rice (Boston Latin) who won the event in 12.44.  Rice's time is the second fastest in the state, but it is the fastest fully automatic time this season.
  • Michelle McGanh (Acton-Boxborough) won the pole vault with a MA#3 mark of 10'6".
  • Chris Pullerits (Acton-Boxborough) won the 400m hurdles in 55.60.  He now has the top two times in the state.
  • The boys 2 mile needed a photo finish...... well, almost.  Tim Cox of Acton-Boxborough just edged Seamus Lawlor of Concord-Carlisle 9:46.43 to 9:46.93.
  • Weston would go 1-2 in the girls 2 mile; with Olivia Brackett winning the event 11:17.21 and Charlotte Walmsley finishing second in 11:23.14.  Their times are MA#9 and MA#12 respectively.
  • Curt Owen (Acton-Boxborough) won the 800m in 1:57.31.  He was followed closely by Clayton Russell of Lincoln-Sudbury in 1:58.44.
  • Marika Crowe (Lincoln-Sudbury) and Kathy O'Keefe (Newton South) would do battle in the 800m.  Crowe would get the win in a MA#2 time of 2:15.91 and O'Keefe would finish second in a MA#3 time of 2:16.86.
  • Concord-Carlisle would get the best of Acton-Boxborough in the 4x800m relay and pick-up the win with a time of 8:19.29.  On the girls' side, Lincoln-Sudbury would post the second fastest time in the state to win the event in 9:40.51.
  • The Acton-Boxborough boys won the 4x400m relay in a MA#1 time of 3:24.57.  Waltham would win the girls 4x400m relay in a MA#8 time of 4:05.64.
  • Lauren Ready (Lincoln-Sudbury) won the 100m hurdles (15.81), the long jump (16'6") and the triple jump (35'1").

 

 

Patriot League Championships

Performance List 

Highlights 

  • The weather was not very friendly, but Heather Connick of Pembroke didn't seem to mind.  The sophomore distance star won the mile in 5:15.88 during the worst part of the storm.    
  • Becky Stoyle of Pembroke won the triple jump with a MA#4 mark of 38'1.25".  She also won the 200m (26.69).  
  • Nicole Gilbert of Hanover won the long jump with a MA#2 mark of 18'10".  She also won the 100m hurdles in 16.38, and finished second in the triple jump at 37'0".
  • Henry Rein of Hingham won the javelin with a throw of 164-5".
  • Justin Blight of Whitman-Hanson won the long jump with a MA#12 mark of 21'1.5"
  • The Pembroke boys dominated the mile; taking 7 out of the top 8 spots.  Brendan Adams won the event in 4:31.00, followed by Ryan Kelley (4:32.63), Ryan Morgan (4:36.63), and freshman Christian Stafford (4:38.30).  Stafford now has the second fastest freshman time in the state.

     

ISL Championships

Meet Results  5/14/2011

Highlights

  • The Belmont Hills boys amassed 134 points to win the meet over second place Roxbury Latin (77 points).  On the girls side, Thayer Academy (151 points) would almost double the point total of second place Windsor (78 points)  to win the meet.
  • Chloe Fross (Groton) broke her own league record from 2010 and repeated as champion in the 800m with a time of 2:17.27
  • Brendan O'loughlin (Roxbury Latin) won the 1500m in 4:08.97
  • Stephen Pawlak (Milton) and Thomas Adams (Tabor) both surpassed Walter Cummings' 2002 pole vault record of 13'6".  Pawlack and Adams both cleared 13'8", but Pawlack would get the win based on misses.
  • Emily Stark of Middlesex won the 1500m and the 300m.
  • Thayer Academy would set a new league record in girls 4x400m relay; winning the event in 4:04.05.

Highlights

  • Both Bridgewater-Raynham teams improved to 3-0 and clinched OCL titles with wins over Taunton last Tuesday.

 

Girls Catholic Conference

Meet Results - 5/10/2011

Highlights

  • Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) won their 23rd consecutive league championship last week with a 90 to 46 point win against Ursuline Academy.  NDA then went on to win the League Championship meet with 184 total points.  Ursuline Academy was second (124 points); followed by Mt. Alvernia (18 points), Fontbonne Academy (9 points), and Mount Saint Joseph (2 points).
  • Shauna Owen (Notre Dame Academy) won 400m hurdles (70.46), the 100m hurdles (17.29) and the long jump (14-10).
  • Jill Lawler of Ursuline Academy won the discus by over 21 feet with a mark of 105'0".

Highlights

  • A tie by the Douglas girls  (3-1-1) has put Sutton in control of the league at 5-0.
  • The Sutton boys remain undefeated in league and are one-up on Blackstone Millville (4-1).

Highlights

  • Doherty scored over 200 points in both genders for blowout wins.  The boys finished with an incredible 282 points to secure a 183 point win over second place South High.  The girls finished with 245 points; 139 points ahead of second place Main South.

  • Ryan Carter won the shot put(42'1") and the discus (112'4").

  • Victoria Gray won the 100m (14.07) and the 200m (28.62).

  • Tyanna Mcbride won the 800m (2:33.53) and the mile (5:40.70). 

  • Liz Pelligrini won the 100m hurdles (17.71), the 400m hurdles (70.31), the long jump (14'1"), and the triple jump (33'6").

  • Geoffrey Gichuhi of Doherty won the high jump (5'8") and the triple jump (41'3.5").
