Highlights

Greg Boursiquot (Stoughton) is the new Massachusetts All-Time record holder in the 55m hurdles! His time of 7.37 broke Jeff Baker's 1985 record of 7.38 and Boursiquot is now tied for #1 in the country. In addition to his amazing finals race, Boursiqout broke Nick Picitelli's 1998 meet record of 7.49 by running 7.43 in the prelims!

Josh Lampron of Mansfield split 62.5, 2:10, and 3:17 en route to a 4:19.86 win in the mile. Lampron broke away from Kevin Thomas (Marshfield), Brendan Robertson (Westborugh), Chris Allen (King Phillip), and Kieran Kinnare (Ipswich)with 400m to go and won comfortably. Thomas was second in 4:20.84 and Robertson was third in 4:22.39.

Nick O'Leary (North Attleboro) jumped out to an early lead in the 1000m. He was then joined by Joel Hubbard of Marshfield and the pair split 1:29 for 600m. Hubbard took the lead at 700m and opened up enough of a gap to hold off the charging Ben Hiromoura of Masconomet. Hubbard's time of 2:31.38 is #2 in the state. Hiromura was second in 2:32.65 and O'Leary was 3rd in 2:33.93.

Kathryn Hiller of Dartmouth pressed the pace from the gun and opened a substantial lead on the field in the first 400m. A very patient Emily Grotz of Oliver Ames and Kelsey Whitaker of Notre Dame Academy chipped away at her lead for 3 laps. Grotz and Whitaker entered the final 50 meters togeter, but it was Grotz who found just enough to edge Whitaker at the line. Grotz (3:01.17) remains at 9th in the state and Whitaker (3:01.26) moves up to 10th.

Charles Ruffin (King Phillip) ran a new MA#1 time of 35.21 in the 300m. Ruffin, Steve Gannon (Mansfield) and Nick King (Mansfield) approached the final turn together, but Gannon and King got tangled up in the turn and allowed Ruffin to open a small lead. Gannon was second at 35.77 and King was third at 35.95.

Rebecca Robinson beat her own meet record of 39.48 from last year to win the 300m. Her time of 39.41 is the second fastest time in the state. She still retains the state lead at 38.90; a time she ran at the McIntyre Elite Meet. Robinson also set a new meet record in the 55m at 7.19. That time is also #1 in the state.

Shayne Collins (Mansfield) runs alone in the 2 mile for the win and a new MA#1 and US#2 time of 9:14.51. He broke away from the pack in the first lap and split 4:34 for the mile. Tyler Sullivan of Whitman-Hanson tried to go with him but eventually found himself stuck in a gap between Collins and the rest of the field. Collins began to lap people with 4 laps to go, and almost lapped the entire field. Sullivan eventually finished second in 9:41.85 and Kieran Kinnare of Ipswich was 3rd in 9:46.37.

It took 1.99 miles to decide the girls 2 mile. Nicolette Pelrine of Central Catholic edged Kayla Springford of Dracut at the line for the win in 11:34.27.

Both Mansfield teams successfully defend their Division 2 championships from 2010. The Mansfield boys won by an astonishing 58 points over North Attleboro. Their margin of victory was enough to win most divisions, but their 98 total points is the most in recent memory. The Mansfield girls scored 21 points in the 55m hurdles to secure a 10 point win over Central Catholic.
