State Coaches Indoor Relays - Div. 2 & 4

Division 4

Hamilton-Wenham's girls team had a two point lead in the team competition following the distance medley.  Bromfield was well aware that a win in the 4x400m would secure the championship, and to better their odds, they had two teams running in the final section.  The "A" team did their job; winning the section in 4:12.25.  The "B" team finished 6th, and the 11 points they scored in the event gave them a 3 point win over Old Rochester.  It must be nice to have 8 girls who can average 65 seconds over 400m.

The boys side was not quite as eventful.  The quality of competition was just as impressive, but East Bridgewater began to control the team competition after the short sprints and eventually ended the day with a 10 point victory over Newburyport.  The Vikings won the 4x200m and 4x50y, but the bulk of their points came from consistent top 3 finished in the field events.

Dana Dourdeville (Old Rochester) did not disappoint in the DMR.  He took the lead with 4 laps to go and methodically broke down the last 800m for the win and a 4:25.7 split.

St. Peter-Marian took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to secure the boys long jump relay win.  They were led by Gavin O'Neil at 20'0.25", followed by Mike Melkonian (19'4.25) and Tim Brutto (19'4).

Division 2

1,350 relays teams raced today.

Mansfield boys and Central Catholic girls score big wins.  Actually, their margin of victory was so decisive that the point total of the #2 and #3 teams combined would still not be enough to overtake them.

Rebecca Robinson splits 24.7 for 200m in the Sprint Medley and 55.5 for 400m in the 4x400m.

Mansfield sets a new meet record in the 4x200 (1:31.82) and the Sprint Medley (3:34.42).  Their Sprint Medley time is the #1 in the nation.
