Watch Sonja Nagle run 2:55 at the MIAA Auerbach All-State Indoor Championships
Over the next two weeks, we're going to release our top 10 subjective preseason individual rankings. We used previous cross country results as well as factored what the athletes have done in the distance events over the track season. We'll be updating these rankings throughout the course of the regular season once that gets underway.
#10 Sonja Nagle
Brookline rising senior Sonja Nagle comes in at #10 in our Massachusett's Preseason Rankings. She has a strong history over the 400m/800m on the track but placed 6th in the Division 1 MIAA All-State Finals a year ago running 19:18.

During her first two years on high school running, she did not run cross country, but held track PRs of 58.72 and 2:14.95 in the 400m and 800m. Last year was her first year running cross country where she ran a PR of 18:51 at the Bob McIntyre Twilight. She would go on to place 4th in the MIAA Division 1 Eastern Division Championships and then 6th at the MIAA Division 1 Championships the following week.
She would also go on to compete on the indoor track for the first time after previously only running two outdoor track seasons. She ranked 4th in Massachusett's in the 1000m at 2:55.71 and 11th in the Mile running 5:09.09.
After having a year experience in cross country and getting more comfortable with the longer distances, Sonja Nagle could have a break out season this fall. She will be a top returner in the MIAA Division 1 Classification. She sits at #18 in the Massachusett's Returning Rankings and is the #13 Returning Individual in Division 1 based off her 2019 personal bests.
