Littleton High School paced by Sarah Roffman's exploits collected its third consecutive girl's team title at the MIAA Division 5 Meet championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Roffman used a last-second move to take an invigorating 600m race in 1:36.11. Second place went to Murdock freshman Lilly Digman in 1:36.55. "They pressured me up until about 100m to go. There were great runners in the bunch and I finally released from them and make a move at the end," said Roffman who secured an impressive double by taking the two-mile in MR 10:43.87. "It had the [record] on my mind throughout the race, but overall I'm happy that I could get the team the points we needed."
Seekonk's consistency throughout the afternoon helped the Warriors overcame Ipswich and East Bridgewater in forging the boy's team title.
Senior Richard Swanson of Auburn registered a meet-record 1:22.28 over 600m in a wire to wire victory. Second place went to Blackstone-Millville senior Cole Bolduc (1:25.38) while Joseph Thurman of Whitinsville got up for third. "I did what I had to do today. I was going for the meet record and had hoped to get a PR, but unfortunately, it didn't happen today (1:21.68).
In the boys 55m hurdles, Martha Vineyard junior Dash Christy surprised a competitive field, blazing to a 7.96 clocking. "This is my first season hurdling, "said Christy following his win. "I was running 8.7's earlier in the season and didn't think I would ever get here. I was just feeling it, I was in the zone. I've never run that fast before and I had a feeling that it would be a good day."
The girl's mile went to Ally Anusaukas of Auburn in 5:13.63. The UMass-Lowell bound senior made a decisive move with 100m to go in slipping past Millis sophomore Bethany Steiner (5:13.68) for the win. "It was a fun race to run, as everyone so close on the last corner," said Anusaukas who also garnered a school record in the process. "I was trapped, and was waiting for that to [open up]."
Alyssa Madden of Oakmont High School who's under the 40-seconds barrier earlier in the season rolled to a 40.74 clocking in the 300m girl's race.
In the ring, Aiden Felty added to his collection of 2018-19 meet records following a strong showing in the shot put. The Innovation Academy senior bested a solid field of competitors, hitting his mark at 64-08.50. Future Harvard product, Seekonk's Cammie Garabian joined Felty in seizing D5 record in the shot; taking the implement to 45-2.25.
