Salute To Seniors: Grace Fallon, North Andover

MileSplit: What would you consider the highlight of your high school career?

Grace: The highlight of my high school career was definitey when I broke the 35-year-old school discus record by throwing 124-7 at division 2 states this year.

MileSplit: What was your most memorable performance?

Grace: My most memorable performance was winning division 2 states and breaking the school record.

MileSplit: What was your most difficult obstacle to overcome?

Grace: The school record was a huge mental block for me. I was chasing it for almost two years and was getting really frustrated. After I broke it for the first time I overcame that roadblock and broke it five more times in the final meets of my career.

MileSplit: What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Grace: I would tell them that throwing discus is very hard and can make you want to give up. They should know that it is ok to struggle but if they keep coming to practice and giving it their all they will begin to see the results and that is when it gets really fun!

MileSplit: What will you miss most?

Grace: The thing I will miss most about track is the feeling I get right after a really good throw and watching it fly. I know when it will be a good throw before it even hits the ground just by how I felt when throwing it.

MileSplit: What are your future plans?

Grace: Next year I am going to Fairfield University for nursing school. Unfortunately they do not have a track team, but I want to keep throwing with local clubs!

MileSplit: What influence has your coach (or coaches) had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Grace: My discus coach Mr. Baginski has taught me so much about discus, but also a lot about how to compete and be an all-around athlete. He helped me add over sixty feet to my PR in three years and was a mentor to me at my biggest and most nerve-racking meets.

MileSplit: Who would you like to say Thank You?

Grace: I want to say thank you to my parents and sisters for being so supportive and putting up with me talking about track nonstop. I also want to thank all my coaches and teammates who made track the most enjoyable and worthwhile thing I did during high school.
