Ryan Oosting took the patient approach at Saturday's Coaches Invitational.
The Arlington junior held back in the early stages of the mile run and simply dominated the field the second half of the race, cruising to w inning time of 4 minutes, 21.72 seconds. Oosting passed through his opening 800 meters around 2:17, holding a slight advantage over eventual second- and third-place finishers, Franklin's Tyler Brogan (4:23.98) and Wakefield Memorial's Matt Greatorex (4:25.05).
Watertown's Mange Camara was a double-winner. He came from behind to win the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19. Camara edged Lynn Engish's Juan Avelino, who was timed in 11.22. The junior speedster also won a tight race in the 200m where he broke the tape in 22.31. Somerville's Phillips Magre placed second at 22.38. Tristen Howard of Medford was third in 22.44.
Belmont's Calvin Perkins captured the 400m title with a time of 49.98. Shawn Carter of Boston College High was second overall with a 50.56 clocking.
Aiden Felty of Innovation Academy heaved a PB of 58 feet, 9 inches to win the shot.
